How do I know if my child needs counselling?

Signs include ongoing worry, big emotions, friendship challenges, changes at home, dips in confidence, school refusal, sleep changes, sadness, or withdrawal. If something feels “off,” trust your instinct — we’re here to help.

How does counselling help my child?

Counselling gives your child:

  • A safe place to talk

  • Support understanding their feelings

  • Tools for managing anxiety or overwhelm

  • Help navigating friendships or family changes

  • Confidence and emotional resilience

What happens in sessions?

Sessions blend talking, play, creativity, storytelling, and emotional regulation tools depending on your child’s age and needs.

How long does therapy last?

Typically 12 weeks, with the option to continue if needed.

Can I make a referral myself?

Do you update parents?

We provide a general overview during the process while respecting your child’s confidentiality and emotional safety.

Is this service confidential?

Yes — unless there is a safeguarding concern. We always prioritise your child’s safety.

What if my child needs urgent help?

We signpost parents to:

  • GP

  • School pastoral team

  • CAMHS

  • Childline

  • NSPCC

  • Samaritans (for older teens & parents)

Do you support parents too?

Yes — through:
